Hulda Elsie Oltrogge, daughter of Adolph and Louise Bartz Komrofske, was born March 27, 1920, at Omaha, Nebraska. She was baptized on April 18, 1920, at Cross Lutheran Church in Omaha where she was later confirmed. She graduated from South High School in Omaha in 1938.
On May 26, 1951, she was united in marriage with Edgar Oltrogge at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Westgate. The couple farmed for many years in the Maynard and Westgate areas. In the 1940’s, Hulda had worked for a brief time at the Westgate Savings Bank.
A resident of Maple Crest Manor in Fayette since April of 2005, Hulda’s death occurred there on Thursday, February 9, 2012. She was ninety-one years old and had been a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Maynard where she had served as treasurer of the Altar Guild. In addition to being an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Chicago Cubs fan, Hulda especially enjoyed time spent with her family including grandchildren and great grandchildren, and her many fiends.
Hulda is survived by one son, Dennis (Judy) Oltrogge of Maynard; two daughters, Beth Bachman of Woodbury, Minnesota and Cheryl (Dave) Melchert of Maynard; four grandchildren, Nicole Haas, Cory Oltrogge, and Zac and Megan Tyler; and six great grandchildren, Braiden Decker, Owen Haas, John and Jed Tyler, and Kalyn and Myelle Oltrogge.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar, who died May 7, 2004; her parents; two brothers, Arthur and Adolph Komrofske; and a son-in-law, Wayne Bachman.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 13, 2012, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Maynard with Rev. Ian Wolfe officiating. Interment will be at Long Grove Cemetery in Maynard. Friends may call from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m., Sunday, February 12, 2012, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Maynard and for one hour preceding services at the church on Monday. Memorials may be directed to Maple Crest Manor in Fayette, Palmer Heart of Iowa Hospice in West Union, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Maynard, or the Maynard Volunteer Fire Department.
